Island eXplorer 2010 - Coming up!

På fredag går starten til 3. udgave af Danmarks vildeste adventure-race
Tour de France og VM står i kommende weekend i skyggen af Danmarks bedste adventure-race: ISLAND EXPLORER på Bornholm! For tredie gang skydes Danmarks vildeste adventure-race igang og sender tæt ved 100 stærke deltagere ud i det smukke, men krævende bornholmske vildnis. I år bliver det vildere end nogensinde! Bare vent og se...

This Friday the third edition of the spectacular Island eXplorer adventure race is taking place on the beautiful island of Bornholm.
This year it is going to even more extreme than the two previous years. I will be following the race closely from the beginning to the end. While waiting for photos to be uploaded, get into race-mood by checking out last years race here: Island eXplorer 2009


Summer-action!

So in which direction will I be pointing my camera this summer? Well, first there is the spectacular Island Explorer adventure-race on the Island of Bornholm. Great setting, fantastic people and a great race - one of the best in Denmark!
Another huge event is the first ever ironman (triathlon) in Copenhagen: Challenge Copenhagen. I am not going to miss this! I really enjoy shooting multi-sports (atlethes doing several different disciplines within the same competition) and admire the endurance and stamina that these guys and girls showcase.
I might capture more hardworking atlethes if I make it to the Bornholm 100 K ultra-marathon - it is not a multisport but an extreme run around the island: 100 kilometers! Pure and simple...
In between I might shoot some downhill mountainbike and rockclimbing - summertime is actiontime here in Scandinavia - Have a nice one!


NEDTÆLLING: LIVE-BLOG fra Tour De Bloc

Glem VM for en stund og ret blikket mod weekendens vildeste begivenhed: Tour De Bloc + Grand Opening Copenhagen Boulders! Jeg live-blogger med tekst, video og fotos og krydrer med lidt ekstra, blandt andet kan jeg røbe at der bliver sat et par Five Ten Project på højkant til blog-følgerne derude.
Og hvordan det går Benjamin Viberg til World Cup i Bouldering skal vi også huske at tjekke - sikke en weekend!

eXtrem Maraton og WAT-A-RACE

Mens regnen silede ned på Extrem Maratons andendag, var der dømt sol, varme og svag vind weekenden efter ved debut-konkurrencen WAT-A-RACE.
eXtrem Maraton er - som navnet antyder - et ekstremt orienteringsløb hvor distancen (på den længste rute) sniger sig op på 90 kilometer over to dage. eXtrem Maraton foregik i de smukke egne omkring Silkeborg, den 29. - 30. maj.
WAT-A-RACE fik et brag af en debut lørdag den 5. juni med høj sol og svag vind. Scenen var sat i Nordsjælland med start i en bus(!) i Gilleleje Havn. Mine fotos fortæller resten af historien...

LIVE-BLOG fra Tour De Bloc

Lørdag den 26. juni bliver en helt særlig dag for dansk bouldering: Tour De Bloc - som med tre tidligere afdelinger har bevist at de kan levere et koncept der holder liv i en dansk boulder-cup - afholder deres 4. afdeling i Copenhagen Boulders.
Samme dag, samme tidspunkt og som en del af samme event: Copenhagen Boulders ÅBNER officielt med pomp og pragt - Danmarks fedeste bouldercenter!

A new place in town!

Climbing-history is being written in Copenhagen these days - well also in Denmark, Scandinavia, Europe - what's going on is huge!
Copenhagen Boulders is an indoor boulder-mecca with over a thousand squaremeters of climbing-walls (when finished). The need for a serious place for boulders has made Frank Vilstrup and Soren Clausen into a pair of Bob the Boulder-Builders, and to celebrate their halfway to the finish-line, they threw a May 1st. bouldercompetition.

Island Explorer 2009

Ascending
Adventure racing (or multisport) is such a great sport to shoot! I went to Bornholm (a small island in the Baltic Sea) to cover the second edition of the Island Explorer.
My client was Destination Bornholm who needed photos of the various disciplines and also a general impression of the atmosphere.
I got the roadbook, maps and some good advice on where to shoot, and drove around the entire island to get the action. I practically lived in my car during the race (a weekend) and only slept for a total of five hours in three days!

In 2008 the american climbing phenomenon Dave Graham paid Denmark a visit. He gave an inspiring and stunning lecture with expressive photos and insight views on climbing, and joined the next day some local climbers to the best bouldering area in Scandinavia: Kjugekull, Sweden.
