Photography is the most amazing medium when dealing with capturing awesome moments of life!

The term the decisive moment originates from the english translation of the book Images a la sauvette (published 1952) by french photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004). His undisputable talent for framing, seeing, composing and capturing moments of both everyday life and historic events, continues to inspire millions of photographers around the world.
When talking about being a talented photographer, the phrases often used is intuition and being able to see photographically. Having a quick eye for a perfect composition (framing) and knowing the visual potential in a given situation is crucial, when trying to get the perfect photo.
Since I read the definition of the decisive moment in my early years as an aspiring photographer, I have always felt a connection with the principle. It is poetic, challenging and philosophical.

Travelling is being alive! Travelling is seeing something new, and experiencing new sides of oneself - travelling with a camera is a journey of compassion!

Technical Creativity
Know your camera and speedlites. Feel at home in using technique as a tool for your creativity. Slow shutterspeed and panning, apertures and depth of field - know your theory and know how to use it!

Knowledge of the Discipline
Which aesthetics are the norm within the sport; What does the athlete consider a great shot? A lot of trick sports (skateboard, snowboard etc.) displays a certain moment during the trick, where the trick is really showing of, and everything is in place; balance, beauty and awesomeness - this is what you want to catch on your memory card. Therefore you need to know what you are shooting, and know where the visual beauty lies within the sport.

Effort
Do not wait for the perfect photo. Go explore and the perfect photo will come to you! Experiment with low position, shooting through grass or go into the river to get true action. What you put into it, is what you are going to get out of it! Shooting action sport means that you too are part of the action! Get dirty!

The Ultimate Ultra Race Series consist of 4 Ultra-Marathons held in 4 countries across 4 terrains.

The Jungle Ultra in Peru, the Ice Ultra in Scandinavia, the Mountain Ultra in USA and the Desert Ultra in Africa make up the four diverse races, each with a unique climate and terrain to overcome. The Ultimate Ultra Race series promises industry leading organisation as well as some of the toughest races to test yourself against in the world. Only the most dedicated and strong willed will gain entry in to the Ultimate Club, meaning they have completed all four in the series.

I am the official photographer for the Ultimate Ultra Race series, and will document the struggle, pain, frustration, happiness and victory of the athletes as they progress through jungle, desert, snow or mountains.

Such an assignment can only be done succesfully with excellent gear and knowledge of how to conduct oneself in difficult and challenging surroundings. I feel very priviliged and proud of being the official photographer for the Ultimate Ultra Race series...
